Lead nurturing emails, more commonly called autoresponders by those in the know, are a hugely powerful marketing tool.

An autoresponder is a series of emails that are sent automatically over a specified period of time to someone who has indicated interest in a product or service.

To put this in a traditional sales context, perhaps a prospect is cold-called, and agrees to further contact.

They then provide their email address, which is added to your autoresponder list. The prospect now receives a series of emails, usually 3-10 in total, each one delivered a few days after the last.

The emails will provide more details on what you have to offer, and focus on the benefits you can provide.

Studies have consistently proven that repeat exposure to benefits-oriented sales material will drastically improve the chances of conversion. In fact, a study conducted by marketingwizdom.com came to this conclusion:

“80% of all significant sales occur only after a minimum of five continuous follow ups … yet only 8% of sales people ever ask for the order a fifth time!”

With conversion stats like that, it seems silly not to use autoresponders.

You Don’t Have To Cold Call

If you had a sharp intake of breath when I mentioned cold-calling, don’t panic.

There’s no need to use cold-calling in order to benefit from autoresponders.

In fact, it’s not even the best way.

Autoresponders are appropriate no matter what lead generation techniques you use. And the best part? As the name suggests, they’re completely automated. Put together an autoresponder series once, and let technology develop your warm leads into qualified customers without ever needing your input.

Perhaps the single best method for lead generation that I know of if Content Marketing – It’s a serious commitment, but the results will blow you away. If you’d like to discuss how content marketing can benefit you in a free 30 minute consultation, please get in touch.
